Alright, a lot of you have been frustrated because you haven't been able to reach me because my contact information has changed since moving to Coast Hills.  I NOW have all the info.  If you want the info then comment to this blog and let me know.  There is just one catch, only the most creative (or best browning-nosing) will get them.  Why, you ask.  Because this is basically a shameless way to get more readers, comments, and subscriptions on my blog.  The most comments I've had on one post was 12.  I'm shooting for 25 (and the day is half over because I'm getting this out late) in the next 24 hours!  I am also trying to get more people to subscribe to my feed.  I'm not sure what all the syndication stuff means  but any linking, shout outs, or advice would be greatly appreciated (Rich, Los, Patrick.....).  HELP me take this blog to the next level guys.  So gimmie your advice and comments and I'll GIVE YOU THE DIGITS!

Priceless......

A new MacBook Pro..........$2,500 dollars.  Software to edit and manage digital pictures.......about $100.  An afternoon with your daughter taking silly photographs and laughing until your crying and nearly throwing up...............priceless.  Thanks Meagan, for adding more joy to my life than I could ever imagine.  You are and always will be my princess.

My New Home

My first day of school was AWESOME!!  I LOVE my new church home!  We had a blast together at the staff luncheon they threw for me yesterday.  We had a slinky show and competition, great food, and even added some really groovy new slinky moves to my catalog. (some actually had to be censored)  Stay tuned for the NEW AND IMPROVED TOP TEN SLINKY MOVES coming soon to the Rockalot Blog.   There were some people who got VERY creative (Bob).  I want to give a shout out to some of my new peeps: Marian (the queen of fun......and staying on schedule), Gina (my new mom at CH), John (the slinky expert - great improv on the stairmaster move), and Sherri (the disco queen - nice Bee Gees music for the "Booty Shaker").  I want to thank everyone for welcoming us with such open arms and loving hearts.  We felt it and recipricate it.  If yesterday was anything like what the future holds for us.............this is going to be one wild and crazy (and very fun) RIDE!!  Thanks everybody......see you tomorrow! (Boy that sounds good!)

The Afters........Afterglow

"I Wish We Could All Win" is the debut album from the a band called "The Afters ."  They are a Texas based christian band resembling Switchfoot or BDA (Better Days Ahead).You definitely need to check out this band.  I give it 5 out of 5 Stars, two thumbs up, and whatever else signifies coolness.

My First Day......

,,,,,,,at my new job at Coast Hills Church is tomorrow.  I went to service this weekend and met several people who recognized me and made me and my family feel extremely welcomed.  I can't wait to get involved and start with our new church family.  I already feel like God has AMAZING plans for Coast Hills, this church is on the verge of exploding!

I have a pretty full day tomorrow.  Meeting 9a-11a.  Then a luncheon for the staff to meet the Adams Family 'til 2p.  Then another meeting with my new staff at 2p.  And then we must make our afternoon Starbucks run!  What an honor, privilege, and blessing to get to do God's work and do what I love with such amazing people.  If you find time in your day to offer up a prayer for me I would be very grateful.  I feel like it's my first day at school................I always loved the first day of school.

Just Keep Swimming.....Just Keep Swimming......

Those are words of wisdom from our famous fish friend Dori. 

Now.......raise your hand if you're a swimmer.  I'm not talking about the kind of swimming where you wade around in your neighborhood pool, or if you're spoiled, your own pool (no.....I'm not bitter) and throw around a ball or an occassional child.  I'm talking about the kind of swimming that's a workout.  The kind of swimming that requires proper form and technique or you drink half the pool and drown in 3 1/2 feet of water.  Well a good friend of mine, let's call him Jason (because that's his name) has talked me into yet another excercise addiction.  I LOVE to play racquetball (I take credit for Jason's addiction to RB), lift weights, jump rope, box, kickbox, practice martials arts, a lot of stuff.  But NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING has wrecked me as bad as swimming.  It is the best workout I have ever had HANDS DOWN!  Yesterday was only my third attempt at swimming 20 laps (of which I have completed all 20 each time - but not without stopping often).  That's 1/4 of a mile.  Doesn't sound like much does it?  That's what I thought too.  I dare you........no........I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU to try it.  Plainly stated: It will kill you.  But the really sad part is.............I LOVE IT!  I'm discovering they have all kinds of training tools like special fins, hand paddles, and other stuff to help you workout in the water.  It has opened up a whole new world to me and I'm loving it.  So, if you're a couch potato DO NOT start your exercise journey with swimming.  Although it's a very low impact sport, it's a very high pain (in a good way) sport.

P-A-R-T-WHY?........Because I Gotta!!

My going away (leaving Saddleback) party was last night.  It was incredible.  All my former staff (that sounds weird) was there and we laughed until we couldn't laugh anymore.  It's a time I won't soon forget.  Thanks guys for making me feel so loved and genuinely appreciated.  And thanks for the VOX AC-30 Custom Classic Amp!!!! I will definitely be putting that to good (and LOUD) use at Coast Hills.  I love you guys (and gals) and will miss you greatly.  Now...........does anyone else want to throw a party??

I'm a Pro

I'm a Pro because I now own a MacBook Pro.  This machine is incredible.  Of course you wouldn't expect anything less from an Apple product.  It lives up to all of the hype.  It also made it shockingly simple to transfer ALL of my data (applications, documents, preferences, passwords, etc.) from my Powerbook.  Well.......I had to click my mouse about 4 times as the MacBook Pro walked me through the process step by step.  Yet another reason for all my PC friends to see the light and buy a Mac.

Slinky's Rule

I love the slinky!  I have one in my office and I have become a slinky master!  Here are the top ten slinky moves: (note: you have to use a metal slinky.  No plastic or imitations)

1. The Rainbow - basic move where each end of the slinky is held in each hand forming a semi-circle
2. The Accordian - intermediate move (could pinch fingers) expanding and contracting the slinky in one quick motion
3. The Corkscrew - intermediate move where you twist the slinky in a spiral motion (must be done carefully or slinky bendage/damage could occur)
4. The Running Man - intermediate to advanced move.  Hold the center of the slinky in one hand and rock simulated legs up and down creating a running motion
5. The Headband - basic and therapeutic move where you wrap the slinky around your forehead.  This feels quite nice.
6. The Stairmaster - only for the expert.  This is the move you see on TV where the slinky walks down the stairs unassisted.  They make it look SOOOO easy but this is for trained professionals only.
7. The Elephant - basic move, hold the slinky at your nose and release opposite end.
8. The Jump Rope - intermediate to advanced move. Hold the slinky in each hand, shoulder width apart and rotate in a circular motion.  Note: Improper technique could result in facial lacerations.
9. The Spyglass - basic move.  Hold the slinky at either eye and extend the opposite end.  This is one of my personal favorites.
10. The Booty Shaker - intermediate move.  Hold in "Rainbow" position and jiggle gently.  Best performed with Bee Gee's music.

There you have it.  The Top Ten ways to impress your friends with your slinky.  Peace Out ----J
